A group of artists and art lovers residing on Anna Maria Island came together in 1989 in a concentrated effort to bring more art to the island. From this corroboration the Anna Maria Island Art League was formed. In 1993 they opened the Art Center to fill a much lacking space for a dedicated art space on the island. The facility includes a large exhibit, a gallery, a photo lab, and hosts classes for kids and adults alike.
Island Gallery West
The Island Gallery West is a local Holmes Beach located art gallery featuring over 30 local artists. It is staffed by these same artists providing you with a unique opportunity you won’t find in most art galleries; the opportunity to talk to the artists in person. The Artists Guild of Anna Maria Island
The Artists Guild of Anna Maria Island represents the largest artist organization on the Anna Maria art scene. Formed in 1989, it is a non-profit organization formed with the express goal of fostering the creative process in all its forms. The guild is noted for its work with nearby Manatee high-schools to encourage young art. It features a different student’s work every month in addition to providing art classes to members and non-members alike.
The Studio at Gulf and Pine
For a taste of something the Studio at Gulf and Pine stands out as an unequalled Anna Maria art scene fixture. This beautiful cultural art gallery and event facility was founded by former First Lady of Florida, Rhea Chiles, in part to host the Chiles family collection of art that hung in the governor’s office. It is known for its excellent community outreach programs that include corroboration with the USF Learning Academy.
