Bradenton was originally established in 1842, with the original town of Bradentown incorporated in 1903. The name Bradenton was derived from Dr. Joseph Braden who owned close-by house early settlers used as a refuge during Seminole Indian attacks.
This historical background left Bradenton with plenty of historical sights and areas. Places to not to be missed for a dose of history includes: the Braden Castle Park Historic District, the South Florida Museum, and the DeSoto National Memorial.
In keeping with the area’s love for nature, Bradenton is dotted with plenty of beautiful parks. The Robinson Nature Preserve is famous for its kayak and paddle boarding experiences. This salt marsh is home to mullet, hundreds of other species of fish, and a myriad of other marine life.
Baseball fans will live a chance to catch a game at LECOM Park, the Pittsburg Pirates’ spring training facility. Bradenton even has its own minor league baseball team called the Bradenton Marauders. They recently just won their first Florida State League title in 2016 with a comfortable 3 games to 1 win over the Tampa Yankees!
